The National Center for the Performing Arts recently rolled out its signature cartoon image -- a lovely white swan -- as its online ambassador for promoting its art and productions at the turn of 2020.
The white swan, looking downwards with its long neck held straight, is a paragon of high art and amiable characteristics.
Dubbed Art Swan, the bird made its debut at the 2019 Open House of the NCPA. Diverse souvenirs and food treats inspired by the image were made and launched, including badges, plush toys, lollipops, cupcakes, coffee, scarves and head bands.
A manicure service using the swan image was also offered. The NCPA'S cafes, souvenir shop and stands drew flocks of consumers that day who admired this elegant and inviting figure.
A flash mob of the dance of the little swans by four ballerinas surprised visitors on the Open House.
The ballet performance, a vignette from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, was the culmination of the Art Swan debut event. A large-size cardboard swan installed beside the East Cafe invited people to adhere golden feathers to its wings.
